We had a busy day yesterday after we flew from Langkawi to Kuala Lumpur. First thing, the KLIA airport is 45 km out of town. The trip takes the better part of an hour due to traffic. Once we got checked into the hotel (we had to wait over an hour), we met up with our friend Neil Jenkins and toured around KL. We managed to see a few of the sites in KL a few museums, very few old buildings and some beautiful tall new buildings. We also checked out “little India” and saw flower shops on the street and vegetable markets. One other stop was the central market. The Petrona twin towers were the highlight!

We stopped at a streep pub and drank a few pints, as Gary was very thirsty! Once the sun set we headed over to a busy street for “local food”. We let Neil order for us and we thoroughly enjoyed our food sitting outside with the locals and other tourists majority of which are Asian. We finally went back to the Petronas towers for night time photos which were stunning!

We said our goodbyes to Neil at the Petronas tower and caught a taxi back to our hotel. It was well after 11 by the time we were crawling into bed and the alarm was set for 4:55 am so we could head to the airport. It was a short night and it’s the same thing in Hong Kong again tonight.

We arrived in Hong Kong and cleared customs and got our luggage about 1:20. We just had to walk through the terminal to our hotel. They could give us an early check in with a room in the second tower – not our first choice as the other tower is newer but for the sake of not having to wait and being able to leave our luggage in the room and our valuables in our room safe we decided to go with it.  We got settled and then caught a taxi to Hong Kong’s Disneyland about 2:45.  This was only the second time in our marriage that we were in a Disneypark without our kids – first time just after we were married and today. Seemed kind of different!  While in many ways the buildings and park layout reminded us very much of Disneyland, we were disappointed that there was no Pirates of the Caribbean, Splash Mountain and Star Tours, some of our more favourite rides. We did do the Gulch Mountain Mining train ride which is very much like Thunder Mountain. The line ups were pretty much 45 – 60 minutes at all the rides.  Longest we waited was around the hour to get on Utopia.  We ended up missing some of the parades due to line ups and we packed it in around 8:30 – before the 9 pm fireworks.  We managed to get a cab back to the hotel without too much of a wait, which if we’d stayed for the fireworks show I”m sure we’d have had an hour wait or longer for a cab. Think the park is still very busy because of Chinese New Years.

We are showering and calling it a night!!  It was a very short night last night and when we checked Gary’s app we’d walked over 13 km today and 11.5 yesterday.  It was a traumatic afternoon as we had to ditch our flip flops and return to shoes (and jeans)!!  I think I may have even whimpered a little bit when I had to put them on!!
