Day 1 January 15, 2016

We spent Thursday night in Saskatoon at Gary’s Mom’s place so we could have a taxi at 4:45am to get us to the airport by 5am. We just beat the big crowd at Air Canada’s check-in but there was a long line at the security screening where we waited  a whopping 15 minutes or so. The YXE airport expansion is much better at handling the security lines. Our first flight of the day to Calgary was slightly delayed due to de-icing. We had over an hour to kill in Calgary.

Brisk weather in Calgary.

If all goes well we should be on our way to Hong Kong at 12:10 pm Vancouver time (2:10 pm at home) The flight is around 13 hours and will land in Hong Kong at 5:40 pm which is 3:40 am Saskatoon time. That’s just slightly after the 3:30 am wake-up time we had today Friday Jan 15, 2016.

Clear and sunny above the clouds. The mountain tops get some sun too.

Getting closer! Are we there yet?

We encountered a clear patch over the Rocky Mountains. Of course that was all gone by the time we got to Vancouver.

We will overnight at the Hong Kong Regal Airport Hotel and depart for the 1.5 hour flight to Siem Reap, Cambodia at 7:45 am Sunday January 17 Hong Kong time. FYI that’s about 5:45 pm Saturday back home. If you see the pattern with time difference? We will be 14 hours ahead of our home time zone. That is one of the biggest drawbacks to time travel!

We posted this as we sat in Vancouver killing 2 hours waiting for AC007, our flight to Hong Kong.

This picture below speaks for its self.

While taxiing down the runway I snapped this photograph. Our Beoing 777 - 300 ER is a nice plane but I thing Air Canada has move the seat closer together.

Once we get to Siem Reap we should have More interesting photos to share!
